At the beginning it was only ten of us at most. We were students, we went to the university, we made some money at part-time jobs, and we had a lot of fun in our spare time. We always wanted to move forward but... Sometimes we had a lack of knowledge or skills. Many times we were cheated at our jobs and were not paid. Also, there was almost no interesting events for the youths. So we decided to create better conditions for studying, working, living and just having fun.In 1998 the Moscow students united to form "Student Community" ("Studencheskaya obshina").
Today regional representatives of "Studencheskaya obshina" are successfully working in 15 largest Russian cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kasan, Nizhniy Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Ryazan, Samara, Tolyati, Ulianovsk, Chelyabinsk, and others.
The activities of "Studencheskaya obshina"
- Job placement. As you are reading this text, more than three hundred students in Moscow alone are placed in a job by "Studencheskaya obshina", and earning money. Over the last 9 years of its existence, more than 60 thousand students got a job through "Studencheskaya obshina".
- Entertaining events. Many regional and municipal events take place in Moscow for youths and the students. Our vision is that exciting and eventful life is necessary to form full and well-round personality. Sport competitions, intellectual marathons, cultural festivals, seminars and trainings - we do our best to make student's life more eventful and interesting!
- Social initiatives. We are interested in forming active social standing among the young generation, which is why we organize a lot of social actions and events. The biggest one is the patriotic action "St. George's Ribbon" which commemorates people who defeated fascism in WWII. Another one is Youth sport competitions (GTO).
Some of our initiatives like "St. George's Ribbon" were highly successful. Nowadays it is worldwide action - the orange and black stripped ribbon to commemorate the people who defeated fascism in Wold War II is displayed by people on every continent on earth, and even in space - on the International Space Station.
In addition, "Studencheskaya obshina" is the co-organizers of Russia-wide exhibition of the scientific and technical youth projects (NTTM), which takes place in Moscow yearly since 1957, and gives the opportunity to young scientists and inventors to present their work.
The 3rd Russian student forum was organized by the members of "Studencheskaya obshina". It took place in 2007 in Krasnodar and gathered undergraduate and postgraduate students from 80 regions of Russian Federation.
